The 1949 New York Yankees started a victorious reign that will probably never be matched. Beginning with that season’s “Fall Classic” this American League juggernaut won the first of five consecutive World Series championships over the period 1949-1953. The next closest string was four straight also by the Yankees in 1936-1939. With baseball now prone to rapid roster turnover, it seems unlikely this record will be challenged.
