Time to get serious for this group of scarce vintage baseball cards. Offered is a lot of (10) 1922 Neilsen’s Chocolate V61 cards. Issued in Canada for a relatively small customer base as opposed to U.S. products, this elegant series is styled similar to the E120 American Caramel series with oval portraits surrounded by ornate frames on the obverse. The reverse advertising distinguishes the two available types, with Type I cards printed with fancy calligraphy style lettering for the name Neilsen’s and Type II cards printed with block lettering for the name.
This group of (10) is very pleasing considering the cards near-antique status, with a grade average of (GD). (2) Cards are SGC graded with: Type I “Bullet Joe” Bush SGC (30 GOOD 2) and Type II Ross Young SGC (30 GOOD 2). The other (8) cards are all Type II with: HOFer Harry Heilmann; and (7) others: Carson Bigbee, Pete Donohue, Bill Wambsganss, Walter (“Wally”) Gerber, Lee King, Ralph (“Babe”) Pinelli, Wally Pipp (spelled “Wallie” on card obverse).
