Seeking to continue its popular Wacky Packages gross-out humor line, Topps printed a slightly smaller series of album stickers in 1986. Frequently reported as a test issue, this thwarted series was not released for retail sale at time of production and judging by available quantities it was most likely intended for widespread distribution. Produced in A and B sheets of (44) and (33) stickers respectively, this series totals (77) for a complete set, plus (5) known variations differentiated by border outline, with clipped and rounded corner types.
Potential for numerous high grade sets hits the block with this unopened case of (12) 100-count boxes of 1986 Topps Wacky Packages Album Stickers. Sized at 2-1/8 x 3”, these stickers number (5) per pack for a case total of (6,000) individual stickers, along with (1,200) wrappers and (12) retail display boxes, all presumed to be in pristine condition. The factory box is printed with the “Topps” logo, the title “Wacky Packages Album Stickers”, the quantity “12/100 ct.”, code “#577” and UPC number “41116 00577” and is stamped repeatedly with “Final Sale Not To Be Returned”. This box shows moderate age-appropriate wear with a partial Topps label on one long side and remains sealed via strips of clear tape on the top and bottom. No official reason is cited regarding the reason why this particular series was cancelled.
