Promising boxing contender Gerry Cooney saw his undefeated streak come to an end in a 6/11/82 fight at Caesars Palace Las Vegas won by reigning Champion Larry Holmes. From this noteworthy bout which was hyped-up with racial overtones including Conney being dubbed “The Great White Hope” comes this 24x30 display signed by Holmes and Cooney ("9-10"). Interestingly, the vibrantly colored Neiman art piece shows a March 15, 1982 date, which was the original date before the fight was postponed to accommodate Cooney, who had torn muscle fiber in his shoulder. Also signed by Neiman ("9-10") on bottom; JSA sticker only.
