Sports meet Hollywood in this collection of classic 1950s film lobby cards. Bragging rights are assured the winner of this lot of (4) baseball and football related movie promoters, as one card looks to be quite rare and the others position as fairly tough. All (4) measure 11x14 and remain crisp and appealing.
1950 “50 Years Before Your Eyes” (EX) produced by Warner Brothers and numbered “50/412”, features “Babe” Ruth in golf attire, this was a feature length highlights film of the biggest celebrities of the first half of the 20th Century, perhaps this listing will cause more of these posters to surface, but as of now it doesn’t look like you could buy one anywhere else, so let’s call this one rare
1951 “Jim Thorpe-All American” (EX) crisp and vivid with actor Burt Lancaster portraying Thorpe in a football scene, produced by WB and numbered “51/369”, fairly tough example that’s always in demand
(2) 1954 “Roogie’s Bump” (EX, VG) both featuring photos of the same four Brooklyn Dodgers active players Roy Campanella, Billy Loes, Carl Erskine and Russ Myer, the story revolves around a boy who develops a strange bump on his arm that enables him to pitch in the majors, this film was produced by Republic and both cards are numbered “54-407”, images and information regarding this film are readily available, but examples of lobby cards for sale are very tough and offered at a much higher point than this entire lot
