Description



The first "Battle of the Century" transcended the boxing ring and became a major milestone in American civil-rights history. Both of these photo displays rate about EX (w/minor surface rippling) and feature super-imposed "James E. Pepper Whisky / Born with the Republic" banners. Includes: 1) Star-studded 15-1/2 x 12-1/2" piece with "World's Famous Gladiators and Promoters / Reno, Nevada, July 4, 1910" caption and depicting Hugh McIntosh, Tommy Burns, John L. Sullivan, Jimmy Coffroth, Frank Gotch, Billy Jordan, Tom McCarey, Bill Lang, Bob Fitzsimmons, Tom Sharkey, Geo. Harding and Stanley Ketchel. Housed in gilt-embossed matte (w/moisture staining) and 29x24 frame. 2) 16x11 piece with "World's Championship Battle July 4, 1910 - Round 14" caption. Framed to 22-1/2 x 17-1/2".
