Description

Birds of a feather flock together, in this selection of (3) Baltimore Orioles game-used equipment items.

Featured are:

Doug DeCinces c.1977-1983 Louisville Slugger D174 signature model with numerous contact marks on the barrel, and light traces of gripping agent residue on the handle. DeCinces uniform number "11" is written on both the knob, and the end of the barrel, and the O's longtime third baseman has signed ("7") in silver on the barrel.

Mike Young c.1982-1987 New Era orange, black and white cap, with considerable sweat staining, and moderate soiling. An MLB logo is located at rear on the interior, and the factory and size labels are absent, however the size is believed to be "7-1/8". Young's number "43" is written on the underside of the bill, and he has signed ("7-8") on top of the bill.

Dave Schmidt c.1987-1988 New Era orange, black and white cap, measured at "7-1/4". Has factory and MLB Diamond Collection labels attached to the interior sweat band, which bears considerable staining. Schmidt has signed under the bill, below his uniform number "24", with both the autograph and number being considerably affected by ink migration. A second autograph ("8") has been applied to one of the two white panels on the front of the hat, next to the embroidered "Bird" logo.

Also present in a New Era orange and black cap with "Pro Model" factory label, which is not counted in the lot totla, as it is not attributed to a player. The letter "T" and faint smaller letters "OF" are written under the bill, and the sweat band is considerably stained. The accompanying LOA suggests this hat is a mail order type, advertised in The Sporting News.

Auction LOA from JSA for the autographs.
Phil Wood LOA for the caps.
