Marketed under the title “Nostalgic Coin Set”, these encapsulated sets were issued with silver coins including half-dollars honoring John F. Kennedy and also with antique Indian Head cents and near-antique Buffalo Nickels. All (19) sets consist of (5) coins with one each: Kennedy half-dollar, Washington quarter, Roosevelt dime, Buffalo nickel and Indian Head cent. The (19) half-dollars, (19) quarters and (19) dimes are all 90% silver coins dated 1964, with one exception a 1962 silver dime. These (57) silver specimens present as average (BU) with impressive luster. The Buffalo nickels date from the 1920s-1930s and range from (GD to AU) and to the chagrin of collectors the 1890s-1900s Indian Head cents have all been polished, cleaned and dressed to impress, leaving little in the way of collectible desirability.
Included with these sets are several header cards printed with promotional copy and while it’s unfortunate the penny coins were mistreated, presuming these sets were packaged and offered in 1964, we can’t arguing with the closing statement on the cards “The Nostalgic Coin Set will increase in value with the years”, as the value of the silver coins are more than ten times face value in silver content alone at the time of this listing and their uncirculated condition status adds even more value.
