Classic comic strip creations surface with this lot of (26) 1970s-1990s original artwork panels and sample layouts. Drawn up for publication in daily and Sunday edition newspapers, this well-preserved group makes up an instant collection. Nationally prominent characters such as Blondie, Nancy and Steve Canyon are joined by lesser known regional types including several large format political pieces. All are in better to excellent condition and show varying amounts of editorial markings, notations and/or artist signatures/salutations.


Highlights are:


17x11 Blondie progressive four-sheet Sunday panel dated 1994 showing the various stages of the production process


12x5 Nancy panel dated 2000 signed by artist Guy Gilchrist (“9-10”) with a hand-dated personalized note written on the top and bottom borders


(5) 17-1/2 x 6-3/4” Gasoline Alley panels dated between 1988-1991, all signed and personalized at top by Jim Scancarelli average (“9-10”)


8x7 Steve Canyon single panel dated 1970


12 x 8-1/2” Smilin’ Jack single panel dated 1973 and mounted to a 14-1/2 x 10” backer, signed and personalized by Zack Mosley  


(4) 17x13 Buffalo Evening News editorial type political cartoons all signed by Jack McLoed with 1981 Ronald Reagan, 1980 Jimmy Carter and (2) others



Also present are (13) assorted others with Between, Curtis, Mudpie, a rejected Steve Canyon layout, a self-portrait sketch and some lesser known works
